Hòfi Kultural had to temporarily close its doors due to the threat of the coronavirus. There are many vulnerable elderly people visiting Hòfi Kultural and during the activities it is difficult to keep the good distance from each other. Nevertheless, we do not sit still and a lot of things happen. We are not only using this period to plant more greenery in the garden of Hòfi Kultural and to maintain the location. We do a lot more.
Online community
We keep in touch with the elderly in coronatime through our group app and we call the elderly about how they're doing. Hopeful videos about music or art are shared with each other. Some older people take their own recordings and place them in the app group. Our music teachers record instructional videos themselves, with songs that the elderly can practice at home. Older people who don't have an instrument themselves can borrow it. We'll bring the instrument home.
Street Colors Bonaire
Hòfi Kultural started the project in March: Street Colors Bonaire. Because of the Coronavirus, the Italian street art artist Dodici from Rotterdam is now coming to Bonaire in October, for six weeks. He then will create murals with talented youth. The 20 participants who have signed up already have contact with each other and with Dodici via social media and exchange tips and tricks. 5 Concerned local artists meanwhile coach the talents and conduct inspiration interviews.
Educational program and hunting murals
For the MBO we are making an educational program about street art. This will be accessible for the students via a website. In addition, we will map and photograph all the murals that have already been made on Bonaire, this is called hunting murals.
